Teaching and learning elapsed time to 3rd and 4th graders can be a real struggle! Problems need to be hard enough to make kids think, without being so hard they give up. There are a number of ways to use this elapsed time Power Point in your classroom.
As a Teaching Tool:
As you teach elapsed time strategies, ask students to come to the Power Point presentation, and use the strategy to demonstrate how to find the answer on the board/wall. The clocks used in this resource are large and easy to use for this purpose. Click again to see the answer.
For Review:
Divide your class into two teams. Go back and forth giving each team every other slide. Each team must work together to find the answer, as well as tell the strategy they used. Click to check the correct answer.
For Evaluation:
Show each slide to students. Students figure out the answer, write it on an answer sheet, then check the answer with a second click.
