Description
This product is my absolute favorite! I love doing this with my kids. While teaching the kids about circuits have them bring in some shoeboxes. Towards the end of the circuit unit, have them begin building shoebox houses. The decor must be all handmade and they must create circuits using 9-volt batteries and christmas lights. They create switches using brass tabs and paper clips. At the culimation of the project, have the students put on a sale. I have the students take pictures of their house and create a fake Zillow webpage of their house. Parks, schools, mortgage, price, etc. the whole nine yards! Have teachers, guests, parents, etc. visit your room and give them fake money. It can be any money! Have them make a down payment on the house of their choice! At the end of the round/day tally up the money and the group that earns the most gets a reward! Super fun way to make it competitve! While the rounds are going on and visitors are in the room put up a background like "Deal or No Deal" and play the music. Tell the visitors and kids when the music stops they must make a down payment! When all is done, take the projects up and grade them using the rubric that is attached. If you have any questions let me know! Have fun!!
