Description
This is a fun activity that can increase student talk in your classroom. The task is fairly simple: Students are tasked with researching and creating a "dating profile" for an element on the Periodic table. Once all of the profiles are completed, students go on "dates" with the other elements and share what they have learned, and determine whether or not they think that their elements would "get along" and go on another date!
This activity contains a Dating Profile template that you can give to each student and contains various questions for them to research, a Speed Dating Scorecard for students to fill in after each date, and then a set of Teacher/Student directions that you can follow to make sure the activity goes according to plan!
