Description

These cards provide a quick way for students to review energy roles in an ecosystem. Students match the correct definition for producers, consumers, and decomposers and then sort the 18 picture examples. There are 6 examples of each energy role. Students can record their answers on the recording sheet.

Activity Ideas:

WHOLE CLASS SCAVENGER HUNT - Place or hide the cards around the classroom and have students coordinate the sorting process as a group.

WHOLE CLASS WARM UP / EXIT TICKET ACTIVITY - Distribute a card to each student or pair of students (adjust for class size) and have them group their card with the correct energy role.

SMALL GROUP SORT - Students can sort the cards at a table in a group. Make multiple sets so groups can work at the same time or have it set up as a center.

INDEPENDENT SORT - Students can sort the cards on their own. This is great as an early finisher activity.
