This product offers a comprehensive, editable, and differentiated set of materials for teaching engineering concepts. It includes a 43-slide PowerPoint presentation, scaffolded notes (both completed and blank versions), a summative examination with an answer key, and Google app files for digital use. Topics covered in the resource include "What is engineering?", the engineering process, defining a problem, brainstorming, designing solutions, prioritizing criteria, making trade-offs, testing and revising, and developing and using models. It also introduces various types of engineers. The materials are designed for upper elementary and intermediate students, with color and shape codes to differentiate the levels of difficulty. This resource supports both in-person and remote learning and can be adapted to various teaching settings. Additionally, there are significant savings available when purchasing the complete Nature of Science or Integrated Science curricula. A free preview of the PowerPoint, notes, and exam is available.

I used this as a long term sub. While I made it work and the kids learned about engineering, I think 5th graders may be too young for this one as far as the notes go. Maybe it was me.
