Description

This matching game/activity is great to use with your students to help them find equivalent fractions. There are 8 groups of equivalent fraction cards included. Each group has 4 cards: 1 purple fraction and 3 black fractions that are equivalent to the purple fraction. Kids will work in partners, groups, or individuals to match up the cards to their fraction grouping.

This would be a good center activity, exit ticket, or bell ringer for math time.

This can be used in grades 3, 4, 5, and even 6.

A blank template is also included in case you want to make additional fraction groupings.

Explain why a fraction 𝘒/𝘣 is equivalent to a fraction (𝘯 Γ— 𝘒)/(𝘯 Γ— 𝘣) by using visual fraction models, with attention to how the number and size of the parts differ even though the two fractions themselves are the same size. Use this principle to recognize and generate equivalent fractions.
