Description
This ratio freebie ask students to write ratios by interpreting visual patterns. Then, students will determine if a ratio can be simplified. This short worksheet is just one small activity from my Spring Themed Ratio resource. The full resource has worksheets that cover ratios, equivalent ratios, skill-practice and problem solving. Students will be asked to apply their knowledge of ratios to real-world word problems.
In this resource, students will have to:
- write ratios by interpreting visual patterns
- determine whether ratios are equivalent
- interpret word problems and the ratios given to them in order to create an equivalent ratio
- create ratio tables, tape diagrams/bar models and double number lines as a strategy for problem solving and determine equivalent ratios
The full activity is perfect for an introduction lesson, extra practice, a homework assignment, a center, or even a quick assessment.
Aligned with the Common Core State Standards. All of the questions are aligned with the following standard(s):
- 6.RP.1 (Understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities).
- 6.RP.3 (Use ratio and rate reasoning to solve real-world and mathematical problems, e.g., by reasoning about tables of equivalent ratios, tape diagrams, double number line diagrams, or equations.)
- 6.RP.3.a (Make tables of equivalent ratios relating quantities with whole- number measurements, find missing values in the tables, and plot the pairs of values on the coordinate plane. Use tables to compare ratios.)
