Description

Higher Order Thinking Task Cards
Error analysis is a great way to help students think critically about the math calculations. Through these activities
Students are required to analyze a grid multiplication problem to find the single error. Students are then required to use their math knowledge and math vocabulary to describe the error. If desired a bonus is included to write an extended response to other students.
The task cards in this packet can be used in a variety of ways in the classroom: individual work stations, partner/ group work, early-finisher tasks, SCOOT games and many more.
I use error analysis as a regular part of my advanced content/ gifted math course. However, I have also used with students who are struggling to reinforce skills.
Can be used with advanced 3rd graders, on grade level 4th graders or struggling 5th and 6th graders.

Finding the error is something that is on state testing often but not in our curriculum so this is so helpful! And the kids love it, easy lesson plan!
