Essential Finger Patterns for String Orchestra.

Presented are four essential finger patterns for the string player. All patterns are to be played in unison and are designed to teach and reinforce student knowledge of essential finger patterns and pitch notes in first position, intonation, ensemble listening skills, and notation.

Fingerings are clearly marked and awareness of half steps are indicated with an "H."

Studies may be used as a warm up, during more focused ensemble study within the classroom, or an individual lesson group.

Notes:

- Double bass and cello parts introduce shifting into third position. All fingerings are clearly marked.

- Use of extended first finger and extended fourth finger will be covered in the cello part.

- Use of half position will be introduced in the double bass part.

- Use of low first finger, low second finger, high third, and fourth finger will be covered in both the violin and viola parts.
