Description

Are you looking for a hands-on, fun, no prep puzzles match up activity to help your students increase their understanding of estimating quotients using compatible numbers? If so, these estimating quotients using compatible numbers matching puzzles are perfect to use with your students!

To complete the puzzles, students need to identify, then match compatible numbers that go with the division problems. Each puzzle has three pieces. A complete puzzle is a division problem, its compatible numbers equation, and quotient estimate.

Cut these puzzle pieces out and the students can match them back up again!

What's Included:

  • 1 digit divided by 1 digit with remainders
  • 2 digits divided by 1 digit with remainders
  • 3 digits divided by 1 digit with remainders
  • 4 digits divided by 1 digit with remainders
  • Practice Worksheets

Instructions

  • Print out the puzzles in black and white or in color.
  • If making them re-usable, cut out and laminate each of the individual pieces.
  • If you are not making them re-usable, cut out each of the individual pieces.
  • Students then need to match the 2 puzzle pieces ( compatible numbers equation and its estimate) to the header puzzle piece to complete the estimating quotient puzzle.

These puzzles can be used for independent practice, early finishers, as a warm up, or in your math centers.

I have used these to great success over the last few months. My children have loved them as a way to reinforce or learn estimating quotients using compatible numbers.
