This document helps students to begin the process of citing their evidence. It is used to guide their writing by guiding them to look back into the text to find evidence that supports their claims. It is a useful introductory tool to the Common Core State Standards for ELA. It is best used with CC.K-12.W.R.1 Text Types and Purposes: Write arguments to support claims in an analysis of substantive topics or texts, using valid reasoning and relevant and sufficient evidence for each grade level.
