Students get to choose one of 9 projects for a summative assessment. This could also be a tic-tac-toe assignment if desired. The projects are leveled by DOK level.
There are orange projects which is the highest level. Purple assignments are on grade-level, and blue assignments are for beginning learners, special education students, or English language learners. Perfect for differentiating. You can change the colors or remove the colors depending on how you differentiate in your classroom.
There are three kinds of project for students to choose from: writing-based projects, art-based projects, and performance-based projects. Students choose a project that is tailored to their strengths.
Written assignments: (Fictional story, Darwin Journal, Evolution Quiz)
Art assignments: (Poster, Comic Strip, Book Cover)
Performance: (Skit, Dialogue, Multimedia Presentation)
This includes a 100 point rubric that grades on vocabulary usage, explanations, and overall neatness. There is also a grading checklist for students to do self-assessment before turning it in. Teachers will do their assessment right next to the student assessment, for their final grade.
