What others say

"This unit is well developed and my students are interested and active participants in the activities. Thank you! These activities were also very easy for me to grade which is a plus when you have lab "packets" to grade. Please check slides 23-25 of Powerpoint as they don't align. "

Description

NGSS STANDARDS WITHIN THIS UNIT:

A. NEXT GENERATION SCIENCE STANDARDS HEREIN

DCI’s: LS4, LS3.B

Cross Cutting Concepts: Patterns, Cause and Effect, Scale, Proportion, and Quantity, Systems and System Models, Structure and Function, Stability and Change

Scientific and Engineering Practices:

Engaging in Arguments from Evidence, Analyzing and Interpreting Data, Developing and Using Models, Using Mathematical and Computational Thinking

"Evidence for Evolution: Stations Lab" explores six lines of evidence that support evolution by natural selection. Each line of evidence is its own station, and students use inquiry to complete the lab.

Get it here: Evidence for Evolution Stations Lab

"Antibiotic Resistance Lab" models the evolution of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Students then simulate the evolution of a “superbug” infection

Get it here: Antibiotic Resistance Lab

"Speciation Activity" teachings students about several types of speciation, which has students model speciation in a frog population that is divided by a mountain range.

Get it here: Speciation Activty

"Thinking Like Darwin" is a a good intro activity when teaching evolution, requiring students to make connections, and draw generalizations, about organisms that live in three different locations in the world.

"Hacking Cladograms" is a student-centered activity that walks students through how to interpret, and create a cladogram.

Your product looks good, but I am having lots of problems being able to view it. The formatting is all over the place and in some cases, the images are completely missing. I would love to talk to you about it. I couldn’t find a way to email you directly. I didn’t want to leave negative feedback where it could be publicly viewed. I’m sure we can straighten this out. :)

I’m very sorry that there are formatting issues. If you don’t mind waiting until Monday; I can reupload each product as a pdf as well. Do you think that would help? UPDATE: 1/6/20 a.m. Did you have any success resolving the formatting issues?
