Excel Lessons - Creating Charts
Share

Description

No Prep! These lessons are great as a first Excel Chart lesson or for students already a little familiar with creating charts. Students love the data for these charts because the data is centered around things they love – their cell phones! In Lesson 1, students will create 5 different charts from step-by-step directions which include Chart Titles, Chart Styles, Axis Titles, Data Labels, and Moving Chart to its own Sheet.

In Lesson 2, students will create 5 charts from provided data as well as charts in which they supply a portion of their own real-life data. Students will also learn how the charts are embedded and make changes to the data.

Also included in these lessons is a handout - Excel Chart Directions – just laminate and you have a yearlong handy cheat sheet for students when they create charts. Answer keys for both lessons included.

Charts Created:

  • Column Chart
  • Pie Chart
  • Scatter Chart
  • Bar Chart
  • Line Chart

Brandon, So sorry to hear your students did not enjoy creating 5 types of charts using data most students love. Based on other teacher reviews, most students enjoyed it. This resource was designed to teach students how to create 5 different chart types in a fun way and sorry your students did not find it interesting.

This is a detailed step-by-step Excel chart activity that I have used in class when introducing charts. It has also been a great resource to leave for a sub when I'm gone because students can easily work through it without any help. Great resource!

This assignment was a lifesaver! I knew I wanted students to learn about excel but just didn't have time to create extensive assignments like this. Gave students a basic overview of all the different chart and graph tools that excel has. Topic of social media was interesting and a few students shared their surprise with some of the facts they were learning about as they completed the assignment. Overall, I would recommend!

I used this resource to supplement my students data analysis project. This resource helped familiarize them with how to create visual representations of data that they will create with their own data for their project. I really loved this resource!!
