Description

This is a fun activity I created for my class so students could see how expanded form is stack-able and be hands on!

There is a sheet for each place value (ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands).

Print each place value on a different colored paper.

I gave each students in my class a whole set of ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands.

Then, I orally called out the number and they had to create it, by stacking the place values on top of each other.

We then went over the expanded form of that number and it was easy to see the breakdown.

Lastly, I had students glue the strips down into their journal so they could flap open like a book, thus they could have a good reference to expanded form and place value in their journal!

Wasn't what I thought it was based on the description. A little much for beginning of the year 2nd graders. Great resource for end of the year!
