Explanatory / Informative Essay Outline
Share

Description

Print out a class set and put into sleeves on students' desks as a resource for essay writing.

Post outline in Google Classroom as a resource.

5 paragraph essay structure using strategies students will remember even without the outline (think testing!).

I truly think this outline and my argumentative outline have improved my students' writing by leaps and bounds! The mnemonic devices really stick with them! To remove scaffolding later in the year, I start to post only the images/symbols around the classroom to push them to remember the elements of each paragraph.

I'm glad to hear it! I have found that by the end of the year, many of my students have memorized the organization from the outline.
