Have fun with Auditory Processing! Explore these interactive vocabulary-building activities that encourage kids to think of words that describe animals, insects, birds, or reptiles, along with their corresponding sounds. Develop auditory processing skills as the students discuss sounds and attributes.

Identify the animal and its sound. Develop Auditory Discrimination Skills!

  • Each colored card identifies the creature. i.e., A dog says, “_________.”
  • The blackline cards identify the creature. i.e., What does a bear say?
  • Match the creature to its outline.
  • Talk about where the creatures might live.
  • Move like the creature.

Games & Activities:

  • What am I?
  • What’s my sound?
  • Headband Game (Divide the class into groups of 4-6 children.)
  • Concentration
  • Literacy Center Ideas
