Description

This activity is a fun one and is easily adaptable to fit your student's music tastes, your music tastes, or any particular story that you are working on.

It includes:
-Organizer explaining how to identify Theme
-Blank organizer that you can use for your own purposes
-Five songs that you can analyze
1. Man Who Can't Be Moved- The Script
2. Innocent- Taylor Swift
3. Yellow- Cold Play
4. Bad Day- Daniel Powter
5. Running Around in My Dreams- Tyrone Wells

Remember you can use the blank organizer to complete this activity with any song though!

Uses: Use this to practice identifying theme. Choose a song that shares similar themes as a short story or poem being read in class. Ask students to make connections between the song and the text. Also, ask students to pay attention to compare and contrast the ways we respond to music and literature similarily/differently.

Let me know if you want a different song and I can put it into the same format as the others and email it to you!
