Description
This is a puzzle that students will put together using what they know about the product and power rules to simplify expressions containing exponents. This is a fun and hands-on way to have students practice their simplifying skills. It allows for differentiation because not every problem will need to be done in order to complete the puzzle. This is best done in pairs, and is a great way to get students talking to each other about math! My students love these puzzles, and I hope yours do too.
This download includes 16 puzzle pieces for students to cut out and assemble, teacher directions, and an answer key.

Made several copies for a challenging team activity for my competitive eighth grade math students. I believe there was one small mistake in this puzzle (Sorry--I can't remember where!), but we just corrected it when everything else matched up. Perhaps it has been since revised on TPT.
I love using puzzles like these to reinforce the concepts the students are learning in class.
Great resource!
Thanks
I love how the puzzle was mixed up, so you could ask the students to cut the pieces instead of having to do it yourself.
The students enjoyed the cutting and pasting 9th grade. I have ESL1 math students and worked great
Easy to use!
Fun way to review exponent rules. Kids really enjoyed the hands on activity!
