Description

Practice simplifying expressions using the laws of exponents with this no prep presentation!

The problems start simple with the basic product rule, quotient rule, power rule, and integer exponents. Throughout the slideshow, problems increase in difficulty, including multiple variables and multiple rules used in one problem.

Great to use with Algebra I, Algebra II, or for a challenge in 8th grade math!

In the folder, you will receive a PowerPoint with 21 exponent problems.

A PDF includes a link to the Google Slides resource.

In class, this presentation works great with individual student whiteboards. For distance learning, students can use the PowerPoint or Google Slides to practice on their own and self assess. This resource is not meant to collect students answers. It is just for practice.

You may also want to use the slides for a screen recording as you teach exponent rules during distance learning. You can record your screen and explain the problems to students if you are teaching virtually. Please note, this resource or any videos made with this resource can be shared with students on password-protected sites only.

Favorite group review for exponents. I have all student complete problems on white boards and they keep track of the amount of problems they got correct using tally marks. The levels build appropriately and I found that it challenged my students but many could rise the the occasion!

This was a true no-prep resource. I came in to work one day to find the schedule had changed and my original plan was not going to work. I quickly found this on TPT and was able to use it immediately. I just handed out whiteboards to each student and it became fun and engaging. Great practice!

Know and apply the properties of integer exponents to generate equivalent numerical expressions. For example, 3² × (3⁻⁵) = (3⁻³) = 1/3³ = 1/27.
Choose and produce an equivalent form of an expression to reveal and explain properties of the quantity represented by the expression.
Use the properties of exponents to transform expressions for exponential functions. For example the expression 1.15 to the 𝘵 power can be rewritten as ((1.15 to the 1/12 power) to the 12𝘵 power) is approximately equal to (1.012 to the 12𝘵 power) to reveal the approximate equivalent monthly interest rate if the annual rate is 15%.
