Description

Explore exponential functions with multiple representations with these activity task sheets. Students fill in the missing information by completing a story, equation, graph, and table of values. Then they answer questions and identify if the function is exponential growth or decay.

The worksheets are included in a printable version and a digital version for Google Slides. (Very low prep!)

Topics include population growth and decay, investing money, multiple discounts, ball bounce heights, and chain text messages.

These are great to use for partner work, individual practice, or assessments. The eighth sheet is a blank template, so students can create their own exponential functions.

What’s included:

  • Printable Activity Sheets: 7 worksheets with multiple representations of real world exponential relationships for students to complete missing information.
  • Digital Google Slides Version: Same real world relationships for students to complete using Google Slides
  • Create Your Own: Printable and Google Slides sheet for students to create their own
  • Answer Keys

These math tasks are a great way to get students to make connections between all the ways to represent exponential functions.

I used this an exploration/review for starting a unit on exponential functions in Algebra 2 (struggling learners). We went through one as a class, and I assigned two or three situations per student. I liked that there was variation in what information was given, and that there was guidance in the written representation of the problem. The students were more successful with these than another activity I've used in the past that required the students to write the situation from scratch.

This was a great resource to look at the different ways exponential functions can be presented. My students were able to make connections between different forms since they were all on the same page. Love that each page began with different information so students had to complete all the different forms at some point.

My students were struggling on writing equations for exponential growth and decay when it came to real world problems. After giving them this and working on this the whole time in class they got a whole lot better at it.

This was a great resource to use with my Analytical Algebra 2 students with learning difficulties. Every sheet was neatly organized (which helps my students be successful!) and even included critical thinking questions! I loved the real world applications as it can help my students grasp concepts better.
