Description

COMMON CORE ALIGNED! Zero and Negative Exponents Task Cards are an effective way for students to practice and solidify their ability to simplify and evaluate expressions involving negative exponents. I use these task cards as in class practice for my students after learning the basics of how to simplify and evaluate expressions with zero and negative exponents.

These task cards include 5 different types of expressions to simplify/evaluate:

- evaluate an integer raised to a negative or zero exponent

- simplify expression in parenthesis raised to a negative or zero exponent

- simplify an expression that has at least one variable raised to a negative exponent

- simplify fraction expression that has at least one variable raised to a negative exponent

- evaluate fractions raised to a negative or zero exponent

Included in this download:

- 30 Task Cards

- Student Recording Sheet

- Answer Key

exactly what I was looking for. Simplifying negative exponents is so hard for some students and this is a great set of additional problems to do as a whole class on the board. Thank you.
