Description

The fifth grade OA3 unit contains a comprehensive study sheet and a test for OA3 (patterns). Each study sheet and test has rigor, an extended response, and a spiral review-all that are needed for Georgia Milestone Assessment. The unit also includes answer keys for each document.

Assessments include higher order questions (matching, fill in the blank, true/false, short answer), written responses, and use of skills to explain and/or justify student answers.

I give the study sheet a few days before the unit test. This gives students time to complete it as part of classwork or homework. Then, we go over the study guide to make sure all students understand how to complete each question. The unit test is similar to the study guide but with different numbers in the questions.

On the spiral review, I’ve included skills most commonly missed on prior assessments. Including the spiral review in each assessment allows students to work toward mastery of skills they have not already grasped and to keep skills fresh in students’ minds.

This unit is an effective tool in assessing students’ abilities not only on the OA3 standard but prior ones as well . Therefore, preparing students for GMAS and sixth grade.

Answers keys are included on all paid products.

There are 8 working pages (not counting answer keys) in this unit. There is a comprehensive study guide and test for OA3. Each are 4 pages long. Each has questions about the standard being tested, a spiral review, and an extended constructed response where the students have to not only answer but also justify their responses with pictures and/or words.

Answer keys are provided for the entire unit.

Generate two numerical patterns using two given rules. Identify apparent relationships between corresponding terms. Form ordered pairs consisting of corresponding terms from the two patterns, and graph the ordered pairs on a coordinate plane. For example, given the rule “Add 3” and the starting number 0, and given the rule “Add 6” and the starting number 0, generate terms in the resulting sequences, and observe that the terms in one sequence are twice the corresponding terms in the other sequence. Explain informally why this is so.
