Description

FLAME: Unit 4 builds confident understanding of teen numbers through clear, intentional, and developmentally appropriate instruction. Students learn the structure of numbers 11–19 and explore number 20, building a strong foundation for place value. This unit also introduces the Growing 100’s Chart (11–20), giving students repeated exposure to number patterns while engaging in hands-on activities that deepen their understanding.

Lessons follow the FLAME routine—subitizing, visual and auditory drills, number talks, counting practice, and a focused new concept or review. Mini-lessons gradually build subitizing skills for 6–10, supporting fluency as students move into teen numbers. Each week builds on the last, helping students move from concrete exploration to meaningful understanding of teen numbers.

Students will use their Growing 100’s Chart (1–20) to participate in interactive tasks, partner activities, and playful number routines that build confidence, flexibility, and early place-value sense.

This unit includes the full teacher manual, printable work mats, mini-lessons, assessments, and hands-on activities that support concrete learning and student engagement.

Perfect for teachers who want structured, consistent lessons that still offer flexibility, excitement, and joyful learning in the classroom.

We are very familiar with the UFLI format. This is a great systemic way to build math sense.

This resource is similar to UFLI but for math and I love it. I use UFLI in my classroom for phonics so they are used to that routine. This resource follows the same outline and my kids are doing amazing with it. I love the visuals and everything about it. It is a quick review for the kids and the students are engaged.

THIS IS PERFECT!!! We follow UFLI for literacy and have been creating our own slides to try and match that but for math - this is it and is exactly what we were looking for. So much quick review, engaging, and builds upon each lesson. The slides are fun, concise, clear, and the work is perfect! We just purchased the next set - can't wait to get started!
