Description

These 4 measurement activities focus on ordering lengths from tallest to shortest, and measuring pictures and objects with nonstandard units (but also standard measurement with rulers if you're using these with older students!).

Click HERE to see examples of these activities being used in my classroom!

Measurement is a fun unit because it can easily be so hands on and interactive...and these activities definitely support that!

INCLUDED:

* Measurement Garden - craftivity

  • Students colour, cut out, and glue the flowers in order from tallest to shortest (or vise versa) on a large piece of construction paper/cardstock...making sure to use a common baseline!

* Measurement With a Cherry on Top! - independent lesson extension or center activity

  • Measuring ice cream cones (with snap cubes, links, dice...anything you want!) and recording how many units.

* Draw & Measure! - independent lesson extension or center activity

  • Kids can draw any picture they want and then measure its length and width.

* Measurement Hunt - lesson extension or center activity

  • Students hunt around the room in groups, pairs, or independently and measure any 5 objects.
