Description

I created this resource to give my students daily practice and review of the 1st Grade Power Standards addition and subtraction within 10, word problems, counting, number recognition, determining greater than/less than, and equality. This set gives my students who do not grasp a Standard on the first attempt extra needed repetition. It helps to increase speed and fluency with Greater Number and with Addition and Subtraction within 10.

When my school started administering the AimsWeb test a few years back, I noticed that while my students were accurate, they struggled with the speed needed to do well on the timed parts of the AimsWeb test. This set provides the practice needed to increase speed, as well as practice with word problems and equality that are found multiple times on the non-timed part of the AimsWeb test. My monthly sets focus on multiple components of the AimsWeb test and give the repetitive practice needed to help increase student scores.

This freebie is one week from a monthly set and includes 155 slides that can be shown with PowerPoint or Google Slides. I use this as a 5 minute warmup at the beginning of each math lesson. Monday-Wednesday-Friday students review counting to 50, 10 Which Number is Greater problems, and 2 Word Problems. Tuesday-Thursday students review 15 addition and subtraction within 10 fluency problems and 4 True/False equality problems.

To convert this to Google Slides, open a new presentation on Slides. Click the File tab, and click on Page Setup. Change the page size to Standard 4:3. Then click the File tab again, and click Import Slides. Click on Upload Files and choose the file Fall Freebie Math Slides from your downloads. Choose the option All Slides and click to Import Slides.

I personally add to this set by linking the Count to 50 slides with a Jack Hartman counting video. This can be done by right clicking on the slide and then choosing the option Link to Slide. Simply copy and paste the YouTube link for Jack Hartmann or another favorite counting video. My students love the ones where they exercise as we count.

I also extend the Tuesday-Thursday slides by adding slides for estimation and the Game Splat by Steve Wyborney. I prefer to do a few of the Splat slides on Tuesday (just 3-4) and to do an estimation clip board on Thursday. My students love these freebies that can be found by simply searching for Steve Wyborney on Google.

Unfortunately, I cannot pre-link these great additions because I do not own the rights to them, but they are a simple addition that will add lots of educational fun to this set.

If you like this freebie, check out my monthly sets that usually include over 600 slides in 4 week-long files for just $6.
