Does your school library use Follett Destiny for your library catalog? If so, this is the product for you!
It comes with 2 lesson plans, making it adaptable to multiple grade levels. You choose which lesson plan works best for your students.
Use Lesson Plan 1 with your 2nd or 3rd graders just learning how to use the library catalog. Lesson Plan 1 comes with a PowerPoint presentation so you can provide guided practice.
Use Lesson Plan 2 as a review for your 3rd, 4th, or 5th graders who already have experience using Destiny but need additional practice. Lesson Plan 2 is meant to be used as an exciting game or an easy center activity. Best of all, students will be practicing using procedural text without even realizing it, as they follow the directions on each Fact Quest task card in order to find the right answer.
For both lesson plans, students will be searching the library catalog by title, author, subject, & series to find out if the book is available to check out, its call number, and more! It is also an easy, authentic way to incorporate technology into your library lessons.
What's included:
- Fact Quest student task cards (There are 4 versions of each task card number - 4-#1 cards, 4-#2 cards, 4-#3 cards, etc. all the way to #12. Since we all have different books in our library collections, this gives you 4 options for each card number. Weed out the cards with titles you don't have & then choose which card you like best out of the ones you have left.
- Instructions for use
- 2 Lesson Plans (Lesson Plan 1 is for guided practice for students who are new to using Destiny. Lesson Plan 2 is for independent or paired practice & can be used as a game or center. It's best for students who are already familiar with Destiny but need extra practice.)
