Description
Are you tired of traditional timed math tests? Do your students get nervous each time you tell everyone to start and stop at the same time? Are you spending valuable time correcting those tests each day? Then it's time to give Fact Tracks a try!
Fact Tracks is a student-monitored fact fluency program. All children work independently and at their own pace. Every student has a Fact Tracks folder where they keep their graph and 3 copies of each practice page. Each time the students are ready to work, they start the timer, complete the page, then stop the timer. After recording their time on their practice page, they correct their page for accuracy. Lastly, they record their race time on their Fact Tracks Graph.
Students will repeat this entire procedure two more times with the same page. The purpose of completing each page three times is to build fact fluency and encourage the students to beat their own personal record. There is no competition or comparison with other students. All students are working at their own pace practicing the specific skills they need.
The following items are included with this product:
* Suggestions for Teacher Use and Organization Tips
* Fact Tracks Practice Pages 0-10 plus review page
* Student Graphs to self-monitor progress in 2 formats: race track and traditional graph with samples
* Student Certificates of Completion
* Answer Key for students to self-correct
* Student Folder Labels template
* Practice Page File Folder Labels template
Depending upon age and readiness, some students may begin with addition, others with subtraction or multiplication. This program works wonderfully as a center during guided math instruction. It can also be a great activity for early finishers throughout the day. In addition, these practice pages can be sent for differentiated homework practice as needed. I have seen great success with my students’ fact fluency after implementing this program! Please download the preview for pictures of Fact Tracks in action.
