Description
Give your students the experience of working in an industrial era factory with this one-period simulation.
This simulation turns your classroom into a "paper turkey factory" where each student plays a role: a worker, a manager, or the owner. Two workers will randomly be selected to be the secret union organizer, who is allowed to attempt to organize the factory into a strike. Your students will be able to unpack and analyze the class dynamics of the capitalist system.
· This simulation would be best used after students have built some historical context for the industrialization era but before they have read any detailed stories about the working conditions of factories.
· Allot an hour for this simulation and debrief.
- Best suited for middle or high school.
