Fairy Tale Dragons
Many primary grades study Fairy Tales and utilize those units for creative writing, reading and art making. Nothing motivates like creating a dragon of your very own. I encourage my Kinders and primary grade students to draw dragons, but I also have a project that utilizes cut paper shapes which the children just love. It involves following sequential steps and working from large to small, from simple to more complex. This project has a very high success rate with students leaving the art room feeling very proud of their fanciful dragons!
