Task cards are a quick and easy way to get more reinforcement, assessments, and practice done. Most of the time students are more engaged because it's just one task and they can do these as an exit ticket, time filler when done with everything else (If you're done you can pick a card and do it" maybe even for extra credit?)
This was a great resource to see what skills my students remembered from last year and what skills needed to be retaught. It was a quick assessment that gave me a snapshot of where they stand.
