MATH CENTRES - Covers many math strands and can be edited :)

Some of the activities are self explanatory and can be used in a variety of ways. The activities can be used as centres, independent tasks or as assessment.

Counting

Students can grab a hand full of leaves and count each colour or how many they have in total. They can then write a math sentence. I have 3 red leaves. Etc.

Calendar/Order the numbers

Numbers 1-31 plus ordinal numbers 1st-5th

Sorting

Students can sort the leaves on the sorting mats using any attributes.

For example, size, colour, shape, veins

Patterning

Students can copy, extend or create patterns.

Graphing:

Give students 2-3 different kinds of leaves (up to 4 of each kind) based on the graph images and have make a graph.

Play dough

Students make leaves using play dough and place the correct number of leaves on tree.
