🎃 Pumpkin Grin Math Craft
Students use mini marshmallows or candy corn to create silly pumpkin smiles while practicing essential math skills like counting, addition, comparing numbers (more/less, and greater than/less than).
Two Craft Options Included:
1. Print-and-Go Pumpkin Template
- Students color the pumpkin (optional), glue in their candy teeth, and complete the math template.
- Perfect for quick prep, morning tubs, sub plans, or younger learners who need less cutting.
2. Cut-and-Paste Pumpkin Craft
- Students cut and assemble the pumpkin, stem, eyes, nose, and mouth before adding their candy teeth.
- Builds fine motor skills (cutting and gluing) while still reinforcing math.
- Makes a festive fall craft that’s perfect for bulletin boards or hallway displays.
Both versions include 5 differentiated math templates, allowing you to target:
- Counting and writing numbers
- Recording how many teeth are on the top vs. bottom row
- Comparing rows to determine which has more or less
- Using symbols for greater than, less than, or equal to
- Adding top and bottom rows together to find a sum

Using orange paint and their thumbs, students create adorable pumpkin thumbprints while practicing:
- Counting objects
- One-to-one correspondence

- “Thumbkins in the Patch” template for larger numbers
- Both color and black-and-white versions

🧮 Pumpkin Counting Mats & Number Cards (Numbers to 20)
Reinforce counting and number recognition with interactive pumpkin mats:
- Students place number cards in the square and add the correct amount of candy “teeth” to match (mini marshmallows or candy corn)
- Differentiation made easy: work on numbers to 10 or numbers to 20
- Optional exit tickets included for quick assessment
🔢 Pumpkin Comparing Numbers Mats & Cards
Once your students are confident in counting, they can work on comparing numbers!
In this activity, students choose two pumpkin cards, count the teeth, and either decide which one has more or less, OR if the amounts are greater than, less than, or equal.
2 sets of pumpkin cards are included for differentiation:
- Numbered cards (for quick recognition) - have the numbers on the stem of the pumpkin
- Non-numbered cards (students count teeth only)
2 sets of center mats are included:
- “More or Less” version
- “Greater Than, Less Than, Equal To” version
- Symbol cards and optional exit tickets for assessment are also included.
