Fall STEM Challenge (Engineering Design): Coffee Table

Description

In this simple STEM challenge students are asked to build the tallest coffee table that will support the teacher's beloved coffee. My students know that once it is fall, I'm loving the Pumpkin Spice Latte, making this the perfect STEM activity for the fall and back to school season! The best part about this STEM challenge? It only requires the use of index cards and masking tape! It is ready to print and use today or can be edited to fit your individual classroom needs. I use this challenge with 6th grade students but it can be adapted to be used in any classroom. I've included some possible modifications on the Teacher Slides to provide some ideas.

Needed this for a filler day in between activities and my students loved the idea of trying to build something out of flash cards. Worked pretty well and kept the students engaged for a few 50 minute periods.
