Build a Sentence for Fall – Formulating and Expanding Sentence Structure is a sentence writing resource designed to provide practice in the formulation and expansion of sentence structure. The fall themed activities of this resource focus on increasing the ability to use a set of given words then to add or change the words to make a complete and detailed sentence. There are three formats for practice: a game activity with game cards for verbal expression (this card deck can also be used as a second and different set of task cards), a workbook and set of task cards.

Sentence expansion is a strategy that teaches students how to form detailed complex and compound sentences. It is also an important skill in the ability to write and speak with more clarity. Expanding sentences empowers a student to paint a clearer picture of intended meaning and encourages the use of more specific vocabulary.
