Fall Token Boards: Token Economy System for Behavior Intervention
Token Economy is a positive behavior support system. It is used to reward students of their good behavior, work/ task completion, and anything else you feel your students should be rewarded for. The goal of token economy is to get students motivated to work with frequent reinforcement, and then slowly taper off. I use it all day long in my classroom and this is how I get even my most struggling and challenging students to complete work and behave appropriately.
This product can be used in many ways to reward your students positive behavior. This is especially great to use with your student with autism as it provides a visual for them. Students or teacher can select a task board from different amounts of tokens (3-6) and different themes. Then, the teacher needs to attach Velcro on the provided boxes on task boards and on backs of reinforcers and tokens. Student picks from provided reinforcers. If you have a specific student that works for a not as common reinforcer you can write it in the box with a wet erase maker. As students are working and/or behaving appropriately they earn different tokens (thumbs up, stars and/ or smiley faces). Which are all included in both black and white versions. When they fill their chart up they earn their reinforcer. A quick alternative for giving tokens would also be to write in the star, smiley face etc. with a wet erase.
