Description

Fast finisher activities now include support for distance learning! This is a set of fun, original logic puzzles and brain teasers perfect for early finisher work or for your gifted and talented students. Both a paper and a digital version are included so your kids can do these activities for distance learning. ELA activities like these are perfect for soaking up a few extra minutes in the day without sacrificing scholastic practice. Your gifted and talented kids will also thank you for the fun new challenges!

These ELA activities are bound to be one of your rockstar teacher tools! Keep them handy for early finisher work, bell work, and as a non-food treat! Your students will appreciate this pack of logic puzzles because they range from visual puzzles to word-based pure logic puzzles - wide variety, keeping everyone working!

In-depth answers (with explanations) are provided so everybody understands the solutions (more fun this way!). And don't be concerned about your kids who might need hints --- we have included hints for the teacher to share as needed, so the puzzles can be differentiated beyond GT activities. Nobody is left out!

Here’s what’s included in this set of fast finisher activities:

My Aunt Sally: Identify patterns in a series of words and determining what my aunt Sally likes and dislikes.

Order Up!: A lateral thinking challenge that requires you to put a seemingly random collection of shapes in the correct order.

Game Set Match: Use logic to group eight of nine symbols into two sets of four and identify the one symbol that doesn't fit into either set. Pay attention to details and practice visual perception skills. The black and white version of this puzzle has the same sets and answer as the color version, but it may be more of a challenge for students to spot the common features.

Defeat the Dragon: A logic puzzle in which you have to evaluate true/false statements to avoid the dragon and find the gold.

Inspirational Quotation Jumble: A "growth mindset" quotation from famous motivational speaker Zig Ziglar has been broken apart into scraps of three to five letters. Can you put it back together?

Cross Word Search: Find the words hidden in the word search grid that fit the crossword-style clues. The remaining letters will answer a punny riddle.

This was used after testing was over and students worked on the puzzles in pairs as they competed to see who could get done the quickest and/or get the most completed.

Any activity that is assigned or offered as an opportunity to continue so sort of work in class is hard to get the students to do. If I offer an incentive to complete this resource then the students actually enjoy it. If there is not incentive and it seem like they are just being "kept busy" then there is little buy in. Great product. Motivation of kiddos is the hard part.
