These fun, prompts will excite kids to write and will motivate them to extend their writing and try new things. Each monthly journal contains 30 fun prompts that are perfect for young writers.

The first page has a checklist to encourage them to begin with a capital letter, have spaces between their words, punctuation and that their sentences make sense. Students have a place to draw pictures. Also included in the packet is extra handwriting lines to help students who love to write more or may write larger and need extra room.

I love saving my journals during the year. When we have back to school night in the spring semester, I gather all of their journals and place them on their desk. Parents LOVE seeing the growth they have made during the year.

This is a print and go activity. Some print the monthly journals as a book while others have been successful at printing them a page at a time. I love using these as morning work. It is also great to use during literacy stations, writing block and early finishers.

Includes:

  • Cover sheet
  • Heart Word list (common sight words) at the beginning of the journal
  • 30 daily prompts
  • Extra handwriting paper
