Description

Utilize the Feelings Check-In Tools in your individual counseling sessions to create a predicable counseling routine using solution-focused counseling. By creating a Check-In Board in your office, you can have functional counseling decor that makes the counseling process more hands-on and engaging for children.

This resource includes 3 formats to help identify a child’s feelings and measure their progress. Choose the format that works best for your setting or use a combination of all 3. Each format uses a rating scale to measure how a child is feeling about 21 topics. By using scaling questions, you can help a child set goals and measure the progress toward their goals. Scaling allows counselors to quickly identify primary areas of concern and use questioning to identify small changes that lead to improved feelings. This resource includes:

1) Large Check-In Board: Designed to be printed and utilized on a magnetic surface such as a dry erase board. Includes 17 feeling identification cards, a large rating scale, 21 picture cards, a banner for the board, and 5 arrows.

2) Check-In File Folder: A smaller version of the Check-In Board that can fit inside a manilla file folder.

3) Digital Check-In Board: An editable Google Slides™ file that can be manipulated by a child during a virtual counseling session.

WHAT COUNSELORS ARE SAYING

"I could not WAIT to print and laminate this! I absolutely love this hands-on way for students to do check-ins. It gives them ownership and agency over what they are doing- and it's self-guided. It gives them time instead of feeling rushed to answer your questions (I'm a school counselor, there's never enough wait time!). From there, the conversation is much easier to do some problem solving."

"My favorite check in tool to date! Thank you so much for knowing exactly what we need to help start conversations with our students about their feelings."
