"I love to use this before dissections so the students know what they are looking for when they are dissecting. It gives them a chance to ask questions before hand and understand the anatomy of the pig."

Description

Body Systems and Organ – Fetal Pig Dissection

This product comes with two versions of the Fetal Pig Dissection Lab: 1 paper model version, and 1 normal version (which would require you to purchase fetal pigs). It also comes with an answer key, and links to annotated videos of the dissection.

In this activity NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) aligned activity, students (Part 1:) complete a quick matching section for 11 organ systems, (Part 2:) Determine the gender of the pig, and age of the pig by extrapolating on a graph. (Part 3:) Then, students identify 25 organs of the pig by either building a paper dissecting model, or using the real thing. Either way, annotated videos are included to help students through the process. (Part 4:) Students describe the function of major organs, and (Part 5): Answer post lab application questions.

4. Proper disposal of preserved organisms

5. All other lab safety protocols

6. My students cling wrap their phones and watch the dissection videos while they dissect

Helpful in a pinch

I grabbed this resource when I had a student panic during the live dissection. It is fine in a pinch but is really something made for an individual teacher's classroom that is being sold as is.
