Suggested Use:
- Present common figurative language phrases to the class and elicit a discussion about the literal meanings.
- Provide each student with a mini-book and allow them to choose nine figurative language phrases.
- Students will write a sentence using the figurative language they’ve chosen and provide a short definition of its literal meaning. They may illustrate the sentence in the drawing box, showing the literal meaning, or split the drawing box in two and draw the literal and non-literal meaning!
- After students have completed their books, allow them to partner up to read books to each other or present each book to the class.
