Description

Looking for a way to scaffold figurative language lessons? Check out this resource that includes student notes, text examples, song lyrics, assignments to go along with each lesson, and a final quiz!

These lessons & activities were built to be broken up over five days. It is meant to scaffold what they previously learned while building on new material. By breaking the information down over five days it chunks the material so students can easily focus on two types of figurative language at a time. (If you need to change the five day time span, the slides can easily be edited & moved around!)

In this resource there is a total of four lessons. (The fifth day is reserved for the quiz)

Each lesson consists of:

- Two types of figurative language including example

- One text example including the two types of figurative language

- Four song lyric examples of the two types of figurative language

- An assignment over the current and previous two figures of speech

Assignments are on Google Docs & are meant to be completed online but instructions can be easily changed to paper/pencil where students can circle the correct answer. (see preview)

The eight types of figurative language this resource covers include:

1. simile

2. metaphor

3. allusion

4. idiom

5. personification

6. onomatopoeia

7. alliteration

8. hyperbole

Everything included is editable (Google Slideshow, Student notes, Google Doc assignments, Google Form Quiz).

Please make sure to check out the preview to see what is all included!
