Description

This is the first major revision of my film studies course, combining the original Film Studies, Middle School/ PG Edition, and Super Duper Hybrid Edition into one, fully customizable set of slides and clips to serve the needs of any middle or high school film or media studies teacher. All video clips and Power Point files are now easily accessible (and downloadable) via a new website.

Here's what you get:

560+ customizable slides accessible via a website and downloadable (your download is a PDF version, but the first slide contains the web link and password for the web-based materials which includes a number of important updates).

297 film clips, accessible via a website and downloadable.

End of film discussion questions and end of unit quizzes.

A syllabus, final project, and sample calendar of lessons.

Topics include: camera distance, camera angles, the history of the movies, lighting and color, camera movement, film genres, movie musicals, horror films, composition, lenses and focus, film comedies, editing, film acting, sound design, auteur theory, and particular films (Modern Times, The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain, Rear Window, Rebel Without a Cause, The Graduate, Rear Window, Psycho, Some Like it Hot, Rocky, Raging Bull, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T., Empire of the Sun, The Royal Tenenbaums, and Brazil) directors, movements in cinema, and animation (history, Disney, stop motion, and CGI).

This course is an appropriate length for an every day semester course or full year alternate day course. With a little creativity, you could probably use it for a full year (especially if you show all of the films that are discussed).

I know the price is high, but this was the result of countless hours of work, plus, think of how much easier the course will be to teach without having to juggle hundreds of DVDs! Buyers will also have access to all future updates or additions to the film clips.

As you can see from my Questions and Answers page, ratings, and reviews, teachers love my film units and are very happy with my customer service. I hope this makes you feel secure in your purchase.

Thanks for considering my unit!

I was given the opportunity to teach a media studies class last year that had absolutely no curriculum attached. This product was a complete lifesaver as it gave me a solid base to build off of. I would not have made it through the year without this. Lots of detailed slides and lots of film clips! The only feedback I'd offer is that I wish the clips were integrated into the slides a bit more so that it was clear why the clips were chosen.

This unit provides many outstanding resources. So much bang for the buck! I originally purchased it to use for an elective film class, but have since used portions of it with my broadcast students and a junior high media class. The clips are thoughtfully selected and the videos with instructor commentary are so helpful for anyone just getting started with this type of material. Worth every penny and then some.

There are so many valuable pieces to this unit. The videos are worth their weight in gold, and the technical information has been extremely helpful. I would have appreciated some notes from the instructor - sort of a directions manual as to how all the files could be used. There is quite a bit to wade through for a new teacher, and perhaps a course calendar with some notes would have been helpful - other than that, the information is worth every penny.
