Description
This culminating project for The Catcher in the Rye is an excellent way to assess your students' understanding of J.D. Salinger's unique style in addition to major symbols and themes of the novel. For this project, students are given a matrix of possibilities to showcase their knowledge, selecting three tasks to complete and display in a portfolio. The matrix is divided into three categories: one focuses on style, the next on symbols, and the third on themes. Project options allow for creativity and choice, making for higher student buy-in and engagement.
This document includes
- Requirements for the project
- A rubric for assessing the portfolio
- A proofreading/ editing checklist
- Several pages of student samples
Additionally, this project is editable in Google Docs, so you can adjust it to meet your needs.
This is one of my favorite projects, and I hope you'll enjoy it, too! If you find this resource helpful, you can find other assignments and assessments in the tiffs.notes store!
