First Chapter Friday

Every Friday morning we start out by reading the first chapter of a new book! This exposes students to new genres of books, and it only takes a few minutes a week!

What does this resource include?

This resource includes 36 titles for you to use during FCF. The genres included are Realistic Fiction, Historical Fiction, Science Fiction, Biography, Fairy Tale/Fable, Fantasy, Mystery/Suspense, Horror, Adventure, Myths and Legends, Poetry/Verse, Biography, and Humor. There is also a quarter sheet recording sheet where students can rate and reflect on the first chapter of each book.

Please Note: The first chapters of the books are not included. This breaks copyright laws.

Met expectations

Great value

First chapter Friday has been the #1 thing I have implemented into my classroom this year. My students love it and it has really helped to build a strong culture of reading in our classroom. I have yet to have a Friday pass where a book is not instantly checked out of the library by a student. Students beg for it and look forward to it every Friday. I love the review sheets that this resource has, and I really enjoy the list of books!

This is a good idea but I only wish that it would have some more lower reading and comprehension level books for younger grades - inclu. 3rd & 4th too - please add to this. Thank you!

Hello! This product title is First Chapter Friday-Fifth Grade. The resource was created for 5th grade students, not 3rd or 4th. I will look into making additional products for lower levels in the future. Thanks.
