Looking for some Dinosaur themed literacy & math centers for your First Grade classroom? This product offers your students practice with a variety of grade-level literacy and math skills! Students work on the literacy skills of phonics, word analysis, decoding, and sight words. They will work on the math skills of addition, subtraction, missing numbers, greater & less than, and ten more or less all in this Dinosaur themed resource.
Resource Prep: Print, laminate and cut all game cards as needed. If the game has black & white Masters they can be copied on regular copy paper. Directions are located on each game card set. Note: You can separate cards by student skill level or by what skills you are working on at the time.

Literacy Centers:
Dinosaur Build Word Game: After the game, cards are cut apart and mixed up, children take a picture card and build the word with the letter sounds to make the word. Children must have one set of cards to build the word. Build a Word mat and worksheet are also included.
Dinosaur Vowel Word Games: Word Game: Children place the cards face down and take turns drawing a card. If students can read the word, they keep it, if they cannot they must put it back. If they draw a direction card, they follow that direction. They must read all their cards and the person who has the most cards wins. Memory Game: Make two sets of the word cards and children place the cards face down in rows. They take turns turning two cards over to see if they have matched the same words. If it does, they keep both cards, if not they turn the cards back over and the next child has a turn. The person who has the most matches wins the game. Words include all short vowels sounds, beginning blends, and ending blends.
Dinosaur Make a Word Family Game: Children take a consonant or consonant blend and put it in front of a word chunk to make a word. Children can write words on paper or a whiteboard or use one of the 18 worksheets to go with this activity. Words include all short vowel sounds and beginning blends.
Dinosaur Sight Word Game(s): Word Game: Children place the cards face down and take turns drawing a card. If students can read the word, they keep it, if they cannot they must put it back. If they draw a Direction Card, follow its directions. They must read all their cards, the person who has the most cards wins. Memory Game: Make two sets of the word cards and children place the cards face down in rows. They take turns turning two cards over to see if they have matched the same words. If it does, they keep both cards, if not they turn the cards back over and the next child has a turn. The person who has the most matches wins the game.
Dinosaur Short Vowel Sounds Roll It! Read It! Words & Sentences: Two types of game cards with short vowel sound words and sentences. Each game card of words and sentences has five vowel sounds. There are 10 game cards in total. Students roll one dice and read the words or sentences in the row they have rolled.
Math Centers:
Dinosaur Addition & Subtraction Facts Clip Game (0-10): Children read the addition or subtraction number sentence and find the answer to the sentence. Children place a paper clip or clothespin to the correct answer of the number sentence. You can separate the game cards into sets from 0-5 and sets from 6-10. Note: Put a little sticker on the back of the card in the correct answer space so students can self-correct their answers.
Dinosaur Roll & Bump 2 & 3 Addend Addition Games: Two Dice: Roll two dice and add those numbers. Cover that space with your marker. You can bump your partner’s color and take their space! If you cover a space with two markers stacked on top of each other, you lock that space and can’t be bumped. The player who uses all ten of their markers first is the winner! Three Dice: Roll three number cubes and add those numbers. Cover that space with your marker. You can bump your partner’s color and take their space! If you cover a space with two markers stacked on top of each other, you lock that space and can’t be bumped.
Dinosaur Greater Than, Less Than, or Equal Clip Game: Children place a paper clip or clothespin to the correct answer of which symbol: greater than, less than, or equal to is correct. Students will be comparing numbers from 0-100. Note: Put a little sticker on the back of the card in the correct answer space so students can self-correct their answers.
Dinosaur Ten More, Ten Less, One More & One Less Clip Game: Children look at the t-chart and find the pictured item with the missing number. They decide whether they need to have ten more, ten less, one more, or one less to complete the t-chart correctly. Children place a paper clip or clothespin to the correct answer to the missing number on the t-chart. Note: Put a little sticker on the back of the card in the correct answer space so students can self-correct their answers.
Dinosaur Missing Number Clip Game: Children place a paper clip or clothespin to the correct answer of what numeral is missing in the series of three numbers. Note: Put a little sticker on the back of the card in the correct answer space so students can easily self-correct.
