This First Grade NWEA Math Review resource was a fantastic tool for preparing my students for the MAP assessment. The activities were engaging, age-appropriate, and covered a wide range of math skills that students need to review before testing. I appreciated how the practice questions helped build confidence while reinforcing important concepts in a student-friendly format. The resource was easy to implement and worked well for whole-group review, small groups, intervention, and independent practice. My students were engaged and felt more comfortable with the types of questions they might encounter on the assessment. This is a valuable resource for any first-grade teacher looking to support student success on the NWEA MAP Math test!

I appreciated having additional practice materials to help my first graders prepare for the NWEA MAP Math assessment. The format was engaging and generally aligned with the types of questions students may encounter. However, I did notice several errors throughout the resource, including mistakes in answer choices and a few questions that could be confusing for students. Because of this, I found that I needed to review and correct portions of the material before using it with my class. With some revisions and proofreading, this could be a much stronger resource. It has potential and provides useful practice opportunities, but teachers should plan to check the content carefully before reviewing with students.

Oh no! I’m very sorry about that. I realize it’s an incredibly busy time, but if you know of the errors, I’d be happy to correct them ASAP. I’ve used a proofreader and we’ve been unable to locate them. My email is jennifer@positivelylearningblog.com

Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
