To rise to the challenges of virtual and blended instruction, I put together both print and digital versions of student-friendly illustrated writing checklists to make it easy to teach and use no matter where you are! Designed for use both with distance learning and inside the classroom the digital slides are interactive and can be used by students independently to assess their writing as well as set writing goals. Students can work confidently and independently on these checklists using the engaging manipulatives and editable fields complete with student-friendly directions on each slide. Use it to suit your instructional needs and share it with your own classroom.
*PLEASE NOTE: This resource is the digital version NOT the print version and is compatible with Google Classroom distance learning platform. NOTE: This resource is an ideal digital companion to the print version. You will NOT receive a printable version in this download. Click here for the printable version.
ALL ACTIVITIES IN THIS RESOURCE ARE ON GOOGLE SLIDES. The digital student checklists on Google Slides have movable pieces so students can easily navigate the checklist and independently track their progress while working in a distance learning setting or online. The student exemplar and standards pages are easy to display as anchor charts or use as visual models for demonstration/inquiry lessons.
These digital versions of the kid-friendly illustrated writing checklists are aligned to the genre-specific qualities of writing strategies (Structure, Development, Conventions) featured in the Lucy Calkins Writing Workshop curriculum and the Common Core Standards. This product is designed to support all student writers no matter what the teaching framework while working online. They help spell out the CCSS writing and language expectations in ways that make sense to children. Simple, purposeful visuals along with clear descriptors and writing examples will support students in identifying the targeted strategy or skill they are aiming to transfer to their writing.
