Description

This set of first grade writing pages is modeled after the WriteSteps curriculum. My students were having a trouble formatting their own pages and were often wasting lots of valuable writing time drawing boxes and marking which lines to skip on their papers. I created these sheets so that the formatting would be done for them and students could focus on the important parts of writing; organizing their ideas and putting those ideas into a written piece.

I make copies at the beginning of the unit and put them in our writing center. Each day to begin writing, students get a paper and are able to get right to work. Students keep their finished pages in a three ring binder so they can be easily removed and used for editing and revising practice.

Included in this set:

• Basic overview page for each of the six writing units: non-fiction narrative (2 units), informational/expository, opinion, fiction narrative, and research.

• Student page masters for each unit with the planning portion outlined at the top and writing lines below and on the back.

Each unit contains one writing page master except for informational/expository writing and research writing. These units each have two different pages for student use.
