Description

Do you need a visual schedule for a student in your classroom? Were you given a behavior plan that said to use First/Then visual strategies? If your answer is yes, then this resource is just what you need. I created these First/Then boards out of necessity for my own students.

WHAT IS A FIRST-THEN BOARD?

A 'first-then' board is a strategy that can be used before a potentially challenging situation occurs with a child.

By using a visual schedule the student will know what he/she must do first before being able to do the preferred activity. An example would be First you must sit on the carpet with the class. Then you can play with the train. First, you must do your math, Then you can have the play-dough.

A student who struggles with self-control can benefit from these First-Then visual schedules. These visual schedules provide a visual for getting tasks done.

WHY USE A VISUAL SCHEDULE

  • Provides a clear external structure for the school day,
  • Can be physiologically calming for students
  • They are predictable
  • Can reduce anxiety
  • Make transitions easier
  • Teach independence
  • Can assist students with ASD, Anxiety, Processing Disorders, and more

WHY USE A TOKEN BOARD

Token boards are used to teach, maintain, and generalize appropriate behaviors we want students to exhibit. When students are demonstrating the desired behavior they can earn a star for their token board. They are working for a goal of a preferred activity.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

  • 13 Different First Then Charts and Token Boards
  • 72 2x2" cards
